Pavones Surf Trip 2023

Dates: August 19-26th, 2023

Imagine waking up to the sound of the waves from the second longest left wave in the WORLD! Grab a cup of coffee and do the dawn patrol from our beach front condos or take a short walk across the street and you’re right in front of the main peak of the world-class surf break Pavones. Get your board ready, cover up with lots of sunblock and get prepared to catch the best waves of your life! Pavones 2023, here we go!!

As previous years we have the option to go on an overnight Surf and Road Trip along the Pacific Coast all the way down to Pavones. We’ll stop along the road for surfing, meet local shapers and get pura vida vibes from real locals! If you want to make it easy, go with a domestic flight and we’ll pick you up in Golfito, only 1h from Pavones!

In Pavones we’ll surf two guided sessions per day. NEW for this year is that we’ll include 5 days of photos and videos so you can improve your surfing faster and have memories for life to take with you home. One day we’ll take the boat across the Gulf together with our amazing friend Captain William and surf the right point breaks on the Matapalo side. We’ll also fish and hopefully bring the dinner with us back! Healthy, homemade breakfasts and dinners are included in our surf package as well as morning coffee and fruits. The beach front condos we’re staying in also offer a well-equipped kitchen where you can prepare your own snacks in between the sessions and keep your beer cold to cool down after surfing.

MEALS

We will eat healthy meals made by local ingredients to recover fast and get ready for more waves! Enjoy a breakfast filled with colorful, tropical fruits, homemade corn tortillas and of course hot Costa Rican coffee. Try local meals such as gallo pinto (rice and beans), fried cheese and plantains. For dinner we’ll have a great variation of fish, meat and greens. Vegetarian and vegan meals are available upon request.

AIRPORT TRANSPORTATION AND LOGISTICS

On our Pavones Surf trip we offer three different travel options to make your trip as easy and fun as possible!

Option 1, Surf and Road Trip (round trip):
If you want to explore the whole Pacific Coast, surf different surf breaks and see new beaches, our Surf and Road Trip is the perfect option for you! Fly into Liberia airport on August 18th and stay one night in Tamarindo or Playa Grande. In the morning on August 19th, the road trips start and we’ll go with the flow and surf where the waves look good! We’ll also stop at a typical restaurant for lunch in Jaco, swing by to meet local shapers and go shopping if you need to buy extra surf accessories. We’ll continue the drive down to Dominical and stay for the night. Next morning, August 20th, we surf and ahve breakfast before we connect with the rest of the group in Golfito and drive the last 1h down to our final destination Pavones! On the way home we’ll surf in the morning on Saturday August 26th in Pavones and then drive all the way back to Tamarindo. You’ll depart from Liberia airport on Sunday August 27th.

Option 2, Surf and Road Trip one way:
A popular option where you’ll explore the country without too much travel by car, is to go on the road trip on the way down to Pavones and fly out from Golfito airport on Saturday August 26th.

Option 3, Surf Trip ONLY:
For those who have already done the road trip with us, have limited travel days or just want to get to Pavones as quickly as possible our Surf Trip ONLY is the option for you! Fly into San Jose airport on August 19th or early in the morning on the 20th. From there take a Domestic plane before noon on August 20th to Golfito. Keep in mind that the domestic plane is for 12 passengers only, so if you’re scared of small spaces this option may not be for you. We’ll meet you in Golfito and drive the last 1h down to Pavones, have lunch and surf our first sunset surf all together! On the way home we’ll surf in the morning on Saturday August 26th and drop you off at Golfito airport.
